Property managed a home I rent.Local knowledgeProcess expertiseResponsivenessNegotiation skillsI was informed, after being approved for a rental property and providing the proper documentation for reasonable accommodation for my service animal, that there was a breed restriction for my service animal. I informed the owner, Natalie Clayton, of ...Response from Natalie Clayton on 10/1/2024
Steve, I'm sorry you feel this way; I appreciate your prompt information and education on service animals (this is not something I've encountered as a private landlord). While I recognize I did ask what breed your service animal was - and that was not allowed per Fair Housing, I disagree with the other details you've shared here. Once you directed me to Fair Housing information, I immediately contacted an attorney to educate myself on the matter. I also NEVER denied you the option to rent. Instead, I not only approved your application, but I sent you a boilerplate lease to be sure you were comfortable with the terms; I also outlined all financial items in an email with the boilerplate lease prior to customizing the lease because I wanted to be sure you wished to move forward. I never asked you to fill in the lease. I never asked you for a $300 administrative fee (you may be confusing me with someone else). And Zillow does not have a space to note a cleaning fee - but I was very upfront with this, as it is part of the boilerplate lease. I, too, have all of our conversations saved, so I'm happy to provide those, as unfortunately, there are many untruths to your review. I do hope you find safe and comfortable housing; I work hard to provide this for all of my tenants - and often at below market rate. Thanks for your time, Steve.
