As landlords, there are sometimes delays beyond our control, such as having the current tenant still in possession on the day the new lease begins. Our lease states that the rent will be prorated so that the new tenant will only pay for the days he occupies the unit. We never ask for more than the rent due on the day of occupancy. We have been landlords and property managers for over 30 years, and have run into all sorts of people in the business, the vast majority have been delightful people whom we are happy to have known. It was with great relief that I returned this person's deposit and reinstated our ad for the unit.
