That equals an eight foot log, 27 inches in diameter for each car to come off the assembly line! For this reason, Ford Motor Company once owned over a half-million acres of land in the U.P.) It is estimated that by 1897 over 160 billion board feet was logged from Michigan forests. If 160 billion board feet of logs were laid out in a pile four feet high and eight feet wide, it would go around the world about 50 times, or to the moon and back about five times!
