Ever dream of owning your own private island? Stewards Island is a 54+ acre island located on the Allegheny River, in Warren County, Pennsylvania, approximately 6 miles north of the Victorian towns of Tidioute with surrounding attractions in the city of Warren and town of Youngsville and Tionesta. Stewards Island is absolutely beautiful with paths that crisscross the island. There is a peaceful area we used for camping on the western side along the water's edge that faces PA State Game Lands, no neighbors to interrupt the serenity of this magical location! The center of the island is an approximate 10 acre field that was once farmed with corn and hay; recently only about an acres been maintained for a wildlife feed plot. This island is a 'Paradise in Wilderness' we've watched Eagles play & hunt off the island regularly and have frequently seen blue heron and hawks along with a variety of other birds, ducks & geese. Turtles cover the eastern shoreline sunbathing in the summer months. We have also seen fox, river beaver, muskrat, and even an occasional black bear swimming to and from the island. The surrounding Allegheny National Forest is well known for it's hunting & trapping. There are deer, black bear, coyote, turkey & duck's as well as many other small game . Rainbow Trout, Brook & Brown Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Musky and Walleye are just a few of the many types of great sport fish available in the Allegheny River and on the numerous streams in the local area. The Allegheny National Forest also has great hiking trails, rock climbing/ rappelling & marked ATV trails, along with the beautiful Kinzua Dam approx. 25 miles north. The island is located on a National Wild & Scenic River. There are 7 islands that are part of the Allegheny Islands Wilderness Area that lie between Buckaloons Recreation Area and Tionesta, Pennsylvania. These islands were designated by Congress in 1984 as a wilderness area as part of the wilderness preservation system. Stewards Island has been written about as if it were part of this system of public lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service, when it is, in fact, one of the largest privately owned islands on the upper reach of the Allegheny River. The island can be accessed from using several local boat launches for small motorized boats. Airboats and Jet Skis are often seen using the river all summer long. Peace, tranquility and recreation comes with this opportunity to own a unique ecological habitat living among the forest of huge sycamore, silver maple, black willow and black walnut trees, surrounded by fields of ferns, black berry bushes, wildflowers and wildlife. This property allows canoeing and kayaking the Allegheny River for miles right from your front door. There is the potential, left to the discretion of seller / depending of the buyer AND as a separate agreement / not part of the sale of the island property, of a 50' right-of-way access directly from Route 62. This area may provide, at buyers expense, parking and a launch/dock area to reach the island. What a rare gem of land this is !!
