    What's special

Lovely brick home built in 1936. Has a large lot, used to be full acre, but I-5 freeway in mid-50's took about half the property, leaving a 'right triangle- shaped piece, of .59 of an acre. Of that area, approximately 10,000' is in mature grass/lawn. There are several mature trees, the side borders of property are outlined with mature laurel trees, with a shorter, formal hedge across front of property. Two-piece, ornate iron gate provides entrance to double-car driveway and garage. A smaller, iron duplicate of the gate provides a walk-way to the front door entrance, along a gravel path with concrete lions and boxwood accented concrete-pots! The home is bold, yet welcoming, with original coved ceilings, mahogany casings and accents. Oak floors are in main large living room and through secondary room on main floor. View from the two large windows of main floor allow for great morning/afternoon light. The kitchen is cozy and warm in appearance. It has modern updates and 18" ceramic tiles for the flooring. There is an updated half bath is on this floor. The second story has one large bedroom, and a second one that is presently used as a TV, study room. In each room, additional storage is found with drawers, as the result of roof alcoves. There are also individual closets in each and additional alcove storage. Oak floors are the main surface, with the smaller room having wall to wall carpeting. The bath retains its original 1936 unique tile floor, and the use of the same colorful tiles added in repeat pattern in the tiled, glass-enclosed shower. A antique pedestal tub, mounted on a large, black slab of granite offers a welcoming place for relaxation. Original double, leaded glass windows, surrounding a single middle piece, offers a sumptuous view of the East hills and Mt Hood in the distance! There are double sinks mounted in black granite, on a specially made tower bath cabinet, with artist's class in each door to match the leaded glass east window. The room has a modern, yet throw-back to its original roots, with 30's era milk glass lighting shades. The entrance door has a design that allows for light, but not for clear viewing. The hallway area contains an added large closet for clothing and storage. There is an additional large window in this area as well. The basement has an additional completed family room, with an exit door to the outside. The room host a working fireplace (as does the main room on the first floor). This room is approximately 24x16'. The main room and the master bedroom are also approximately that same size. The other half of the basement houses the gas furnace/heat pump/cooling system, utilities and additional storage area. It is dry and does not leak. In addition to the main house, there is a connecting breezeway to the two-car garage, with storage above it. There is also an attached studio used as a mother-in-law apartment in the past. Ironically, there is still working buzzer in one of the bedrooms, the sounds in the main house!! The approximate area of this studio is 450'. There are also two other out buildings on the property, one close the the house and used for storage, and the second building further out, sitting on the old concrete pad, and used for a storage tool shed. All have electricity and water near the buildings. There is also a working well on the property, with water down about 30'. The well was added in the 40's for irrigation. This is still working today, with a newer water system. There is a covered (aluminum with concrete floor) 40' RV pad and an additional covered pad of 20' behind this feature. The home is certainly a showplace of the area and we love it very much. Hope you enjoyed the walk through
