    In 1957 the Alexander family worked with Los Angeles architect William Krisel, AIA, to create the first truly modern neighborhood in Palm Springs. Now popularly known as Twin Palms, each house was beautifully detailed and had a unique, custom look. This particular home features the famous extended butterfly roof, which was one of the most daring and dramatic. Spreading gracefully across the extra large lot, the wings of the butterfly encompass both dwelling and garage creating an impressive facade to the street. Over the years, the open courtyard entry was enclosed creating a large entry and bonus room. The home otherwise retains its original floor plan. The post and beam construction is still very apparent with the tongue and groove ceiling rising to dramatic 13 foot heights which allows an incredible amount of light to penetrate into the home while always connecting the new owner to the outdoors. These homes caused a sensation when they were first built and, in fact, sold out very rapidly and a visit to this home and the neighborhood will quickly show why. Pool and jacuzzi have been recently upgraded. There are solar panels on the roof for energy conservation.
