The neighborhood is what you expect in East Oakland---working class and a little gritty, but not nearly the terrible place that some narrow-minded people make it out to be. I've lived here since 2000 and have never had any problems whatsoever. It is also a rapidly improving neighborhood with many new families moving in in the last few years and substantially improving their property.
