NOTES FROM THE SELLER:
Front of House
It began in the spring of planting 300 southern border trees in 1996. The house was started just a couple months later. There are 3 beautiful River Birch for shade and special landscaping features in the center island of the circle drive. Also, Oaks, a River Birch and 2 White Birch, Silver Maple, Sugar Maple and a couple Catalpa trees were chosen.
Back of House
In the back are oaks, Locust trees and a Colorado Aspen, a beautiful Sunburst Honey Locust tree and a Sugar Maple. In the fall and winter, birds of all kinds gather, including pheasants, turkeys. You will even quite often see deer trying to eat out of the bird feeders!
Beyond the Oak Trees are 2 Cherry trees and 2 more River Birch. The basketball court is a very special place! Our kids and grandkids have spent countless hours on the court! No phones, no TV. Next to the garden are 2 Honey Crisp Apple trees, Concord Grapes and a McIntosh Apple tree.
Northern Forest
With the assist of the Olmsted County Soil and Conservation Service, a northern windbreak was designed. Colorado Blue Spruce, Black Hills Spruce, Norway Pines, Scotch Pine and White Pines! A walking path has been mowed in the pine forest. Also 150 Lilac Bushes planted along the west fence line.
Southern field
The southern 7 acres of the property was also designed by the Water and Soil Conservation Service to be used as a wildlife habitat. Pheasants and wild turkeys and other critters make a home there each year.
We have enjoyed several years of walking the kids to the end of the driveway to get on the bus. The walk usually ended with a conversation about deer, turkey, fox, coyote, rabbit, squirrel or pheasant!, Directions Hwy 52 to 75th Street NW, County Road 3 North to right on 115th Street. Follow to sign at end of driveway.
