Cumberland County reassessed my home value at $195,100. I will take no less. My grandparents purchased this home in 1972. I lived here through the second grade. I moved back in 2013 to help with my grandparents. My grandad, Charles Leroy Canady, Sr passed in 2014. My grandma, Helen Christine Baker Canady passed in 2017. I purchased the home from my uncle. I am an electrician/handyman by trade and have updated a few things on the house. My home is in a good location. I feel safe here. Not that I don't keep an eye out and carry a weapon, because in this day and time, everyone should be alert no matter where they live....bad people are everywhere. With the Amazon distribution center only 2.6 miles away, the area from there to here seems to be improving. Not that I give my hard earned money to high-priced Starbucks, but they recently opened a store two blocks away, right across from Dunkin Donuts. Three blocks from me, the opposite way, is Krispy Kreme. When their donuts are "Hot and Ready", and the breeze is blowing this way, I can smell them. My mom, little sister and I used to walk there and watch the donuts on the rollers getting iced. This was before the lobby and seating area were added. Afterwards we would play miniature golf at Putt Putt, now a dental office. My grandma loved her yard and all of her trees. When fall came, she would always remind me that when she used to rake the leaves, there were two more oak trees than now!!!! She would also point out that grandad did not help. I miss them so much. Because of these trees, during the summer time, the sun rarely touches the house. This house would be better suited for someone who likes DIYing and is handy. It needs some small things done, but has good bones. I burned myself out living in the house while working on it. I adopted my grandad's attitude, 'it isn't perfect, but it keeps me dry and comfortable and is paid for'. At this point, anything I do to the house will be changed by the next owner after I'm dead and gone, so I'm good with it as it sits. I'll add some pictures later.
