If you're looking for your perfect HGTV home, then look further! Are you a fan of a fully open concept downstairs? If quarantining at home with your family has proven anything, it's that walls are a very good thing. You will not find shiplap in this house. After all, it's basically just the ugly paneling from the '70s painted white and rotated 90º. Looking for clean lines? Nothing is clean when you have children. I bet you like it when everything in the kitchen is white. White is lovely, until you have to keep it clean. We had a white kitchen once. Never again. While we're in the kitchen, are you looking for granite countertops and subway tile? Not here. When this house was built, it must have been decided that granite was too expensive of an upgrade. That probably explains why we don't even have a backsplash either. Subway tiles belong in the subway anyway. Don't tell anyone, but our kitchen appliances are not all stainless steel! And we don’t have a big stupid hood over our stove nor a large island with stools to sit on. But we are still alive, somehow. Are you a fan of those rustic sliding barn doors? Well, not us. Would you really want to use the bathroom at a friend’s house with a half inch crack in the door? And we don't have flooring that looks like wood but contains 0% wood. We do have some hardwoods (containing real wood!), tile, and yes, even CARPET! Now that you're horrified, it's probably a good time to mention our showers only have one head, our garage faces the front, and we have more than one color of paint on our walls (and none of them are whitish gray). While our home isn't a cookie cutter of every home renovation show, it has everything a real family needs: four walls and a roof. We have great neighbors, a humungous master suite, space for kids to play, a wonderful front porch, and a secluded backyard. And no, it doesn't have an oasis.
