The house is featured on his Website Frankrobertsarchitect.com.2) An in-ground pool was part of the original approval from the conservation dept. However that approval has now expired and a new approval must be obtained if a pool is desired.3) The house is constructed utilizing a post and beam construction method. The Timber Frame or structure was manufactured in Burlington, Vermont by Vermont Timber Frames then trucked to our site where it was erected. The house is insulated with stress skin panels that wrap the house and provide a much higher insulating envelope than a normally insulated home. The wood used for the Timber Frame is Douglas fir harvested in Canada. The checks and cracks you see in the wood are normal and add character to the frame.4) The open aspect of this type of home created two Loft areas that are accessible by ladders. These are bonus spaces not originally anticipated on the plans.5) Since the Timber Frame aspect of the home introduced a very natural feel to it with all of the exposed wood it made sense to highlight that by combining other natural products into the design. The Timber Frame is Douglas fir, the floors are Ash, the kitchen cabinets are Hickory and the fireplace is Connecticut native granite..6) Timber Frame construction is known for its ability to provide an energy efficient home with respect to its heating costs. On average this home has used 1300 gallons of fuel oil per year. This compares well to a much smaller conventionally built home. Combined with the most energy efficient mechanical equipment that was available at that time, the home has a Green philosophy that translates into some real dollars saved. The septic tank is 1500 gallons which is larger than code for a four bedroom home. We did that to provide flexibility for future expansions of the home.8) There are a few options for possible expansions. The attic over the garage could be made into another bedroom suite for an in-law or an au-pair space. 8) There are
