In 1963 acclaimed architect, Alf Pasquale, a New York photographer, and his wife, who was a designer, combined their talents to create this exquisite contemporary cottage that's perfectly located on the park end of Long Pond. The open living area with cathedral ceiling has three glass sliding doors that open to an expansive deck facing west to the water, providing spectacular sunsets to nearly every room. The master bedroom with a slider to the deck and private bath is at one end of the living area. At the other, are two bedrooms and a shared bath. One of the bedrooms also has a slider opening to the deck. Behind the galley kitchen is a laundry room and a storage room - once the photographer's dark room. The cottage is situated on 12.6 private acres with 320 of water frontage. From the deck one can look across the pond and enjoy the mountain view, and the forested shore line of Acadia National Park. A dock/float directly in front of the cottage provides a swim platform, and a perfect place to launch your kayak or boat.Long Pond is the largest lake on Mount Desert Island, about four miles long, and over one hundred feet deep. The lake was formed by the same glacier that created the fjord of Somes Sound. The only difference being one is fresh water and the other salt water. Long Pond has everything: boating, swimming, fishing, picnicking, and hiking. It is a favorite destination for both tourists, and the local residents.
