One of the oldest homes in Orange, CT, it was originally built in 1780. The original center hall Federalist style 2-1/2 story structure survives, and includes 2 working fireplaces, 2 abandoned bed room fireplaces, the original plank flooring and a unique circular stair in the front entry hall. The Living Room fireplace includes an original brick lined beehive oven. The center chimney above the fireplace, which backs up to a working dining Room fireplace was rebuilt in the 1980's. Also in the 1980's, the 1-1/2 story ell was converted to a study and master bedroom above, which included raising the roof. A large kitchen and family room addition was built in 2005 that also expanded the 2nd floor master bath. The large kitchen includes custom cherry cabinets, granite counter-tops, a gas fired Viking range and an imported Italian terracotta floor with radiant heat. The family room includes a large Rumford fireplace and antique wood plank floors. The entire addition, including the marble tiled master bath is heated by in-floor radiant heat. The master bath includes a large whirlpool tub and a glass enclosed steam shower.
