    What's special

Designed and built in 1905, this building in the Historic Avenues District of downtown Salt Lake City was likely a single large mansion originally--then divided up into (5) apartments sometime during or right after the Great Depression (which was very common back then). A 6th apartment (the attic loft) was added much later. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet, warm space, this unit--with its western and northern exposures, original fir hardwood floors, tall ceilings and lots of tall windows--might be just your spot. The bathroom is cute, sunny, vintage style--and quite large. It has vintage fixtures--including the original claw-foot tub (with shower)... and some exposed brick. The closet space is excellent--with three separate (walk-in) closets--AND a ton of extra storage space AND a laundry facility in the main basement of the building... so, anything that won't fit in the apartment can easily be stowed below. (Bikes, boards, bins, skis, camping/climbing gear, a kayak, suitcases, extra furniture, seasonal items, etc). The building has a big, original, wrap around porch in the front--that is available for all tenants to use. Great spot for morning coffee or dinner outside on one of Salt Lake's many gorgeous evenings. (The porch has great sunset views--as does this apartment.) Since this is an upstairs unit--and there is carpeting in the front entry and stairway--we're looking for someone with no dog(s). (Thank you for respecting this preference.) A cat or other small, clean, quiet creature is typically allowed. This is one of the nicest vintage apartments you will find anywhere in the Aves. BUT... it is 120-ish years old. The focus over the years since we've owned it has been on Restoration and Preservation--not "updating" or modernizing. So it's pretty authentically turn-of-the-century wherever possible. And that of course has pluses and minuses. Internet is included in the monthly utilities--which are divided up between all the units each month. (With the water, gas, electric, trash, AND high speed internet, utilities have averaged about $110/month for this unit this past year (for single occupancy)--which is super cheap.) This is not student housing... so if you don't have a good job, good credit, at least a few years of solid previous rental history... we probably won't rent you an apartment. We don't do co-signers and we don't generally rent to (undergrad) students. It's just not that kind of party. You don't have to be white collar to rent this place... but you do have to be mature, quiet, experienced, and financially stable. Reply with questions and/or to schedule a showing. In your reply, tell us a bit about yourself and what you are looking for... what you do for work / income... your ideal move-in date... specific information about any pets... any other occupants... etc--to save time going back and forth. (We do not schedule showings without this basic pre-qualification info first.) 12 month lease is standard. May consider shorter terms for higher rent. Tenants pay all utilities.
