Historic brick building, 8383 SQ FT, started out as the Garfield School built in 1918 at the peak of Bisbee's mining days on a hill above present-day Tombstone Canyon Road. Located one mile west of downtown Old Bisbee in a quiet residential area, this 2 acre property is surrounded by lush green hills and quaint colorful homes. In keeping with the property's history, each of the nine rooms has a school-themed name, Art Room, Music, Geography, Reading, History, Arithmetic Suite, Principle Office Suite and the Library Suite. All rooms offer a private bath, twelve-foot ceilings in a peaceful, home-like atmosphere. B&B has received 5 Fodor's Travel Choice Reviews. 99% of the furniture and decor convey. The main dining area opens out to a private relaxing patio that is continually shaded by a spreading oak tree. The patio also features brick steps up to a second level with sitting area, a hammock built for two, a patio swing, a gurgling waterfall, and darting hummingbirds feeding at several feeders. The front balcony offers a panoramic view of upper Tombstone Canyon and the colorful Mule Mountains. Additional rooms include a main kitchen, a walk in pantry, storage, laundry and small work shop area. There is plenty of convenient off-street parking available right outside the door. Directly below the Inn, Garfield Park provides basketball and volleyball courts for guest entertainment. Everything stays, seller only wants to retain a few family quilts, dishes and pictures. Great directional signage on Tombstone Canyon Road. The School House Inn has received five Fodors Travel Guide awards, all stating this is a "preferred place to stay." Featured in Arizona Highways in 2004. For two decades, first through fourth-graders attended school in the building till it closed in 1938, it was converted to apartments and in the late 1980's to a B&B. Copies of the original school blueprints can be viewed in the main stairway. Bisbee is known as a culturally rich community that includes an active and varied population. Bisbee retains its welcoming spirit, offering visitors a rich mix of art, music, history, architecture, outdoor activities, dining and nightlife. Bisbee's wonderful mile high climate provides outdoor enjoyment year-round. The local region provides countless choices for daily activity and adventure. Birdwatchers have a choice of the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area or Ramsey Canyon. Geronimo and Cochise, the great Apache warriors, called this territory their home.
