This rocky coastline is one of the most picturesque of mid-coast Maine, and from the front steps of the cottage you’re just 100 yards from the water's edge, with open views of the Ram Island Lighthouse, working lobster boats, and passing sailing ships. The covered front deck, with comfortable seating and a coffee table, invite you to relax and enjoy the special view. And as soon you enter the cottage you know you're in Maine -- from the painted wood floors to the exposed rustic-wood ceiling. The open living area features an eclectic mix of new and vintage furniture and decor. On the wall hangs an antique wooden sign salvaged from the historic old inn, the Atlantic House (where this cottage gets its name) that was once situated just a few hundred feet down by Shore Road, and catered to Ocean Point guests a hundred years ago. But there is no shortage of modern amenities here! The new 40-in Smart LED TV comes with cable and Netflix streaming, along with a Blu-ray/DVD player and a library of DVD movies. There is also free WiFi access and unlimited free phone calling nationally. The adjacent cozy dining room with its oversize table and chairs invites you to enjoy the ocean sights and sounds as you savor a hearty repast prepared in the newly remodeled kitchen. With its own ocean view, the bright new kitchen is well-equipped and features all new stainless steel appliances, including a fridge with ice-maker, a glass smooth-top range, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and Keurig coffee maker, as well as a farmhouse sink with garbage disposal. Down the hall is the airy and bright full bath. There is also a brand new washer/dryer unit in the hall closet next to the bathroom. The expansive master bedroom with queen bed and wood floors and ceiling also offers an extra room through a curtained partition, with two additional twin beds. Head up the quaint staircase of painted wood to the second level where white, dormer-style ceilings and wood floors evoke a magical feel. Here you’ll find the front bedroom with a queen brass bed and colorful quilt and a priceless view of the ocean and sleepy sounds of the crashing surf. There are two more charming bedrooms, each with twin beds, as well as a one half-bath. Guests are free to use the Ocean Point Community amenities. The center, known as The Casino, is less than a five-minute walk from the cottage, and includes games, tennis courts, a playground, and community events like Sunday parent-child softball games that have been going on for generations. Take a stroll along Shore Road and you'll come to the nearby marina where you can dock your boat or jump in for a swim. Across the marina is the historic Ocean Point Inn, one of Boothbay area's finest restaurants that also features a daily breakfast buffet. Grimes Cove Beach is also a short walk from the cottage in the other direction. East Boothbay has long been a summer mecca for New Englanders.
