8 East Third Street often called "the little yellow house" referring to the early brick appearance. An eighteenth century house built by Jeremiah Bowman; brick, 2-story, 3-bay, gable-roofed, side-hall-plan dwelling that was constructed in two sections; initially two bays wide, another bay was later added to the south end wall. Recently the kitchen was completely updated. This significant house is at the center of the New Castle Historical District facing the green. The New Castle Historic District is significant for its architecture, for its early settlement, for its importance as a seat of government, for its position as an early trading and shipping center and for its role as a critical link in the regional transportation network. New Castle's many well-preserved buildings document almost three hundred years of architectural development. This house the "Dorsey House" has had continued current family ownership since Mrs Ann Dorsey first purchased it in 1807.
