NOTE: Prior Tenant Comments about their experience living in this unit: "We absolutely loved living at the Watergate - I can't say enough good things about it. We often say that will be the coolest place we ever live. We miss it already! I think it was a combination of the Watergate complex and location, and the apartment itself. I'll start with the apartment. The best thing about it is the view and the large windows that let you soak up that view from practically every room in the apartment. The balcony is amazing as well. It's also great that the apartment faces east. The apartment is flooded with sunlight in the morning and in the summer the balcony gets sun until around noon. I would often spend 2-3 hours on the balcony every morning getting some sun and enjoying the view. And because it faces east you don't get afternoon sun shining in during the hottest part of the day. I used to live in a south-facing apartment in San Francisco and it would consistently get above 80 degrees in there in the summer. That never happened at our Watergate apartment. Also, the evening golden sun bouncing off the Berkeley hills is stunning and you have prime view of that from the apartment. There are good, respectful, nice neighbors above, below, and on either side of the apartment. We had no issues with noise. Occasionally you'd hear a neighbor running the garbage disposal or nailing something into the wall, but it would only last a few seconds. It never bothered us. We would leave our bedroom window open at night and it was always quiet. Now for the Watergate complex - we loved it as well. The E building is in good condition, clean, and well-maintained. Occasionally the elevator and laundry machines would be not functional for a day or a few hours for routine maintenance. It was never a bother to us though. They keep on top of things well and if anything needs repair they tend to it pretty quickly. The elevator is a bit small, which could cause problems if moving large couches. We had a small- to medium-sized couch and it just barely fit. The laundry room is big, but sometimes the machines are taken if it's peak hours (like Saturday afternoon). We liked that you didn't have to have coins for the laundry - you could just load money onto your account and use an app on your phone. Tip: connect to the wi-fi in the laundry room - the app will work better that way. The parking spot that comes with the unit is very conveniently located. And it's great that you can also have a non-assigned spot along the street if you need it (just need to be sure to get a parking sticker before parking there). Watergate has a security office and they patrol the complex constantly. They usually catch people before they damage any property. It's also nice that the police department is so close to the complex. So I would say overall Watergate is very safe. I never had any issue whatsoever. We really enjoyed the whole Watergate complex. It's so beautiful to walk through - they keep it very nice. We would frequently go on walks or runs along the boardwalk and out by the marina to the park at the end of the peninsula. If you are a runner, I'm convinced there is no place better to live! There is a great path all the way out there and the views are stunning. I also liked to do workouts in the grassy area next to the pool between Captain and Commodore or out at the end of the peninsula. We also used the gym in the Clipper Club a lot. It's not modern, but it's always clean and they keep the equipment operational. We hung out at the pool and hot tub a few times as well. Oh and the mail room is such a perk! You don't have to worry about your packages sitting outside - they are delivered to the Clipper Club and they hold them for you." Owner pays for water and garbage. Renter pays for electricity, cable, phone and gas. Please Note: there's a ONE TIME MOVE IN/OUT registration fee by the Watergate Management HOA of $225. There is a $10 fee per year to access the amenities and the clipper club house.
