Welcome to Mercer Hall circa 1855. This antebellum Greek Revival home was built by Levy Mercer in 1855 and is situated on 2.3 acres. It is the oldest house in Georgetown proper. The home features original wide heartpine floors, 13-foot high ceilings, plaster medallions, rim locks, hand-planned two panel doors, original mantles, moldings and motifs. Known locally as the Mercer/Bledsoe House. Dr. J.W. Mercer entertained General Benjamin H. Grierson in this home in 1865 at the end of the Civil War, when a detachment of federal troops camped near Georgetown. Alexander Graham Bell, a friend of Mercers, was said to have stayed in the home during his visit to Georgetown.
