712 Rhode Island was built by the Bowersock family in the late 1800s as family housing for its employees at the nearby Bowersock Mills. It is an exquisite example of the late Victorian style then popular in Lawrence. By the 1980's it had fallen into neglect and disrepair. It was gutted by a previous owner and left empty for a decade, until 2009, when it was lovingly restored to modern elegance inside and out. The house sits on a quiet one way street lined with turn of the century houses.
