1898 turn-of-the-century Queen Anne home offers many features including open staircase, wood floors, stain glass,& 3 fireplaces. Front or back covered sitting porch areas to enjoy the lush garden areas. Beautifully decorated & tastefully updated with 3 bedrooms & 3 full baths. 4 blocks from the picturesque downtown, the bike trail and the Root River. See supplement www.1898inn.com The 1898 Inn was built at the turn of the century by one of Lanesboro's early entrepreneurial settlers, Dennis Galligan. He and his wife, Ellen Dore, were both born in County Limerick, Ireland. The Galligan's varied business ventures included a railroad constructing business which extended from Canada to the West Coast. His dam and iron-truss bridge are still much a part of the Lanesboro Landscape. They also, interestingly, built and operated The Galligan Opera House here in Lanesboro. The on-stage talent included Buffalo Bill. Today the 1898 Inn is a small inn which promises a unique experience for our guests. The home has been gently restored to reflect its rural beginning. The patina of time remains - after all, it took decades to earn this look. A building of this age has its own leisurely pace (and so do our guests) so to compliment this lovely, unpretentious Queen Anne home, with its simple fir woodwork and knotty pine floors we have decorated with a tasteful mix of antique furnishings and the muted colors of the countryside.
