About the space:
Funky and beautiful industrial converted loft space with 13 foot ceilings, good natural light, ground-to-ceiling windows, built-in wine fridge, and W/D in unit totalling almost 1,500 square feet on the ground floor in the south Petworth/northern Columbia Heights area. Tons of closet space and storage, your own personal bathroom, and a pretty sweet and very large, elevated den space (pictured).
The apartment is about 10-15 minutes by foot to the closest metro line (Green/Yellow), steps away from convenient bus lines, a 15-20 minute walk to Whole Foods, Giant, Safeway, Lidl, or Target, as well as a number of good neighborhood markets and Farmers markets.
Additional amenities: large gym in-building (about 5 steps outside the door) as well as a couple other amenities that make this place feel like home, including the shared (but somehow rarely used) rooftop deck, first floor party room, mail room, etc etc on your tour.
About you:
Looking for someone to sign on for a 12 month lease, starting September 1st. Current roommate does not want to leave the beautiful space she's built, but is moving in with her fiancee!
Room is $1400 monthly with a $1500 security deposit, utilities ~ $90 a month.
No smoking per the lease. Dogs allowed (slash wanted), but no cats unfortunately, cat allergies are not great.
Unit comes with a space in the secured garage for an additional fee (negotiated with the landlord), thought there's also street parking, and I've never had issues finding a spot within a block or two.
W/D in unit! And almost all new appliances! Totally new HVAC system was just put in a few months ago, new kitchen facet was installed in the kitchen, there's new paint down, and some upgrades to the bathrooms as well.
About your future roommate:
I'm also a tenant and have lived in this space for a two years now, and just absolutely love it. I'm an early 30s male-identifying professional who enjoys all things sports, hip hop and r&b, singing, delicious single malt whisky and funky natural wine, watching standup comedy, and most of all, surrounding myself with empathetic, kind-hearted folks who try to make this a better, more equitable place for all. Open to living with anyone of all genders, as long as they're comfortable with me and I'm comfortable with them!
