The Owls Nest cottage is located in the perfect spot , 7 miles from the village of Oriental and just minutes away from Minnesott beach and the Ferry to Newburn or Morehead City. The house is set up on two floors with the top floor having most of the living amenities such as the three bedrooms and two baths, kitchen and dining room and living room. The views for the water side of the house are fabulous! The downstairs is perfect for entertaining with a large spacious 2nd kitchen with stainless steel appliances and gas range. You can hang out and play ping pong or watch the Sports on the Flat Screen tv. It also has a full bath downstairs including a shower, sink and toilet. There is a large Island where you can eat or play games. Outdoor areas include a gas grill and picnic table under the carport with views of the water and the dock. Your boat can be tied up to the dock and loaded onto the trailer via the boat ramp next to the house. If you like to fish or simply want to relax on the large beautiful deck, its perfect! Dawson Creek is a protected area and is a great for fishing, crabbing, and waterskiing. Enjoy learning how to throw the shrimp nets and catch crab right off the end of the dock. Try taking out the canoe or renting a kayak to enjoy an evening cruise down the Creek. The cottage is located on a beautiful waterway with gorgeous views . The Sunsets and the Sunrises that can be seen from the deck and almost every room of the house and are truly amazing and ever-changing.The stars shine so bright that you can see the Milky Way. It is also a very patriotic community and Cherry Point Airforce base is just over the horizon. The occasional Sound of Fighter Jets going into Cherry Point are what we call the Sound of Freedom. They don’t come over that often but when they do it makes you glad to be an American! The story of Oriental is unique in many ways. Its a small village on the Neuse river with a distinctive heritage. It is an International Destination and home to a robust boating community. Many people live on their boats and travel the intercostal waterway on their way up or down the East Coast. It is known as the Sailing Capital of North Carolina and home to several Sailing Schools. The summer Sailing camps are very close and just minutes away. Drive into the Village and rent a bicycle and drive along the waterfront . On a nice day you can enjoy watching the Sailboats as they race in the regattas. The people are the friendliest people anywhere in the world. Everyone wants to get to know you and share their love of the community. They welcome you with open arms and the restaurants are great places to sit a spell and catch up on the latest happenings and events. The Annual 4th of July Parade will let you step back in time to a kinder and gentler era. Enjoy strolling around the Harbour and having dinner at the Toucan Grill while watching the international large sailing ships come into the Harbor on their way to countries around the world. Pick up a Pastry and a cup of Joe at the Bean and take a walk down to the harbor to see the Sailboats and Fishing Vessels. When you leave Oriental go over the bridge that looks over the Village and the beautiful cottages and Victorian homes in the Historic district. You can look down into the Harbor and see the massive Shrimp boats return with their days catch. Enjoy exploring the Coast of NC and history of the area from Black Beard and the Light Houses to the Forts and Civil War museums. See the Wild horses in Shatley Springs, and tour the Waterfront towns of Beaufort, Newburn NC and Wilmington. Take a day trip to Ocracoke and the Outer Banks.
