    Second-story 1BR apartment over art gallery in the heart of East Market shopping and dining district, walk to Waterfront Park and the Big 4 Bridge. Old building charm and quirks... like a low lintel leading into the kitchen that will put a hurt on 6' guests until they learn to duck. Narrow stairs and a tight turn means your oversized couch won't make it into the unit; your normal size couch might not either. Really, IKEA flat pack couches are the best fit. Wood floors and lots of windows, electric fireplace, central heating and cooling (this isn't displaying correctly on some apartment listings). Artist-run building -- building maintenance is easy to contact with quick response times on issues (usually same day). Stack washer and dryer are in the kitchen. Enclosed but unheated second-floor porch, still under renovation as of 1/1/2022. Organic/least toxic option pest control is provided - please never buy a can of Raid. Techs won't enter your apartment until you report a pest issue, but the building is checked and treated monthly. Lavender door on Clay St. is the entrance to upstairs apartments (there are 3 apartments in the building). Each apartment has its own Ring doorbell you can view and answer from your smartphone. Packages can also be left at the first floor gallery during gallery business hours, and we will put them in the tenant foyer unless they are very heavy. Please plan to mask during an apartment tour. Pets welcome with a cleaning deposit (nonrefundable) and a small rent adjustment. Any dogs need to be leashed in the hall, to avoid scaring the sweet elderly dog who already lives here. This is a non-smoking unit and there is no flexibility about this. While the unit has great sound privacy, any smoke of any kind ends up in the gallery below. Parking is on-street and available near the building or (during peak brunch times) further north on Clay St. or on Jefferson St. Water and trash/recycling are included, electric/gas and internet are not.
