It's soft under-foot - great for playing volley ball at the ever-present nets. The Sand Sculpture Contests present art work that's incredibly detailed and imaginative! Life on Siesta Key is a relaxed, resort-style existence, and people enjoy walking from the beach into the Siesta Key Village for fabulous ice cream, relaxed dining at sidewak cafes, and live music in the evening. Strolling through shops for jewelry, comfortable cotton clothes, tourist mementos, or necessary sunscreen and sunglasses is an enjoyable passtime for young and retired of any age. A siesta in the afternoon prepares you for the evening of fun, whether it's the Sunday evening drum circle on the beach (bring your tambourine or recorder, too!) or a stroll in downtown Sarasota for the art walk, to entertaining or thought-provoking plays, symphony, ballet, opera, or the comedy club.
