Nestled on 2.76 acres, this off the grid property is set up for the zombie apocalypse. Its current owner lives there year-round. It is snowmachine access only from December to
April. It's just outside the grid by about 1.5 miles. Approximately 7.8 miles passed the
Hobble Creek Golf Course. Close enough to Provo, that I commute every day year-round. It's about 19 miles/40 minutes to the Provo Trax Station during
Spring/Summer/Fall access. I chose this location to be away from the city, yet close
enough to commute. Another cool thing is that Upper Whittemore Canyon is a gated
cabin community, so privacy is excellent.
The property/canyon development itself is fed by mountain spring water. The included
wood-fired hot tub could be considered a man/mother nature hot spring. I have plumbed
a hot-water line off the whole house instant hot water heater, so you can fill the entire
tub with hot water. No chemicals and all done with solar.
Taxes are about $2000, insurance about $1400. HOA is $750 a year.
The house is run by solar and a propane generator. There are 2 x 1000-gallon propane
tanks. Though the 24-battery bank is plenty for the summer, an additional 24 have been
ordered. The 2 KW system runs the entire house from May to October. After that,
multiple-day storms require some generator assistance to have city comfort. And that is
what you have in this cabin, except it's in the mountains.
The cabin has two heat sources. A propane fireplace in the master bedroom and a
modern forced air furnace. This all runs on solar.
Every appliance is brand new as of 2017.
The cabin can come furnished. I have custom beds in both bedrooms to fill the space
correctly. All the furniture is less than three years old.
Outside there are two 12 x 12 x 12 commercial grade metal sheds with garage doors.
An excellent place to store and lock all sorts of machines, tools, etc. The sheds will not
wear out and can handle more snow load than the cabin itself.
Above the sheds is a landscaped area with fire pits, rock walls, a 50-foot commercial-grade turf area where a slackline is set up and some trails. There is an immense
amount of excavating done on this property.
There are ample parking areas to park
trailers, camper trailers, etc.
