DESCRIPTION OF COMMUNITY: This is a private property that is part of a small community setting, where we share parking, a patio, electricity, internet, and laundry. The small out building is located in the back yard of my ranch home where I live with my two boys (6 and 3) along with another family in my basement that has pre-teens living with them half the time and 3 dogs: an eager Golden Retriever, an affectionate Great Pyrenees, and an aloof, well-endowed, senior Chihuahua. We like to have weekly dinners, tell jokes, help each other out when we need it, and generally be good neighbors. Also, we all help with raking in the fall, snow removal in winter, and mowing the lawn in the spring and summer. It's preferred that you have had some sort of communal living experience in your past, or this might not be a good fit. DESCRIPTION OF STUDIO: This is a small, beautiful, simple living space in a gorgeous part of Maine on an acre of land only 25 minutes from Portland. This studio apartment was built in a converted garage less than 5 years ago, with an eye towards sustainability and efficiency. It has bamboo floors, an on-demand hot water heater, a small, very efficient wood stove, and a toilet that uses very little water.
