Are you an artist, writer, or have a job that lets you live wherever you want? Or are you a financially-secure retiree looking to just fish and enjoy the outdoors? Are you tired of paying too much for groceries and want to grow your own food in the peacefulness of the country? Elkton has a wonderful small town atmosphere, with many family-oriented people. There are only 3 other farms on our road, which disappears up into the forest and wildlife-filled mountains. Eugene, home to University of Oregon, is only about an hour away. Reedsport, and some very tasty oysters, beautiful sand dunes, and other coastal delights is about 30 minutes away. There are 3 local wineries and many organic farms in the area, along with weekly Farmers Markets. Highway 38 is a designated Oregon Scenic Highway. We have an 1100 sq ft house/cottage with a covered cedar deck, overlooking our 55 acres of pasture, creek, and trees on the mountainside. We also own 200 feet along the Umpqua River, where you can swim, put in your boat for fishing, or use it for part of your Iron Man workout. People from all over the world visit this area to fish the Umpqua River and go hunting in the nearby woods. There is a garden area where you could grow your own veggies and a chicken house/yard if you'd like to have chickens. Coho and Chinook salmon spawn in our creek, along with otters and crawdads. The home is partly furnished, with pellet stove, refrigerator, stove, and Washer/Dryer hook-ups. The front room and deck, which overlook the pasture and mountains, is like a studio apartment with kitchen, dining area, living room. Some tenants put their bed there too. The back room has been used as a bedroom, artist studio, workroom, storage, you name it. The deck is perfect for entertaining, lounging, and functions as another room. We bought this farm because of its unique combination of Creek, River, pastures, and forested mountains. We could not find another place with such a wonderful combination. Paradise Creek runs through the length of the property, dividing the pastures from the mountains, and we own land to the Umpqua River where we created our own little park with a ramp to the River. The house for rent was occupied by the family who owned the farm before building the main house next door. We visit the farm occasionally and there is a tenant who lives in an apartment in the main house. We consider pets on a case-by-case basis. No smoking please. We require first + last + refundable Security Deposit. Available for long term or short term lease. Couple of months or one year plus
