The gorgeous backyard space has all new landscape, along with amenities including a jacuzzi, fire pit, lounge area, and shed that are shared with the back unit. The back unit houses 2 others (see below for more information). About the communal space: Behind the "main house" that is 554, there is a 2-story back unit that houses a studio and a 1-bedroom apartment located on the first floor. I live in the studio with my dog, and the one-bedroom will belong to a friendly new tenant planning to move in in June. The second floor of the back unit belongs to our landlord (Michael), and will be his home when he's around (he travels frequently and is often away). Since the front home and the back home have a shared yard space, we often do family dinners with Michael and have built a genuinely caring relationship among the group. We hope that whoever occupies that front house will be excited at this idea or at least open to being very friendly and respectful with those who share living spaces. Our Landlord: Michael Michael is a wonderful man, full of amazing stories and adventures. He started his own contracting and real estate business for residential and mixed-use construction and has remodeled this house, including the back unit and shared yard area, in the last couple of years has transformed it into the stunning shared space it is today. He is also hands-down the best landlord we have EVER had. Due to the nature of his work, he will be traveling often, but when he does come around we love to catch up with group dinners in the backyard. About me (Hannah): I'm a first year Masters student in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at UC Berkeley and am studying river and stream restoration. I'm on campus much of the time, and my dog (a sweet baby golden retriever mix, Nova) hangs out in the fenced in area at my back unit while I'm away. When I am around, I'm often studying or working, and love having a clean, relaxing space to chill out on occasion. In my free time, I love hiking with Nova, swimming, reading, painting, and practicing yoga. The House / Neighborhood Vibe I have truly loved living here. The house is beautiful, bright, cozy and is very open and spacious with great natural light for plants! The house and the area feels very safe, and the neighborhood is definitely a community with several families that have been living here for 10+ years. Who are you?
