Maplewood Urban Farm - 2.25 Acres - Studio for Rent - Interested in Gardening and/or Animals?
Are you looking for a place to live in Portland that has a bit more land for animals and gardening? Have you ever wanted to get land with some friends/family and dabble in growing your own food?
Over the years the land has hosted a small neighborhood CSA, goats, chickens, bees, a horse, and of course dogs and cats. It feels like an oasis in the city - with a pond, a few minutes walk to April Hill Park and right down the street from Maplewood Coffee.
[Application Note] The hope is to form a low-key community to share the land between the top floor house, studio, and a potential tiny house. Given the shared nature of the space, we are asking folks to complete a brief community related questionnaire before moving to next steps (e.g. touring the space, meeting other folks etc.). The questionnaire is available at: [Removed by Zillow - Message me for the link]
Please note: The upstairs 2-bedroom house may also be available starting late Spring to early Summer. Photos: [Removed by Zillow - Message me for the link]
Here's the details:
Studio - Available March 17th.
-Studio with 1 bath/shower
-Low/No VOC finishes for chemical sensitivities - All paints and stains are low/no VOC-
-Utilities - All utilities are shared among the living spaces (except for garbage).
-Shared storage space in basement
-Shard washer/dryer
-No pet/animal rent.
-Wildlife: I have seen deer, coyotes, a beaver, and hawks on the land.
-If you want a space to dabble in any of the following: gardening, natural building, urban farming, permaculture, raising animals. Slight rent discounts may be available for brush clearing, trail building, carpentry skills etc
-No experience needed. Only curiosity and initiative.
Please note:
-The Barn - Although there is a small old barn, it's not safe for animals/people.
-Neighborhood Spot - It would be great if the property could be a neighborhood/community spot (e.g. to visit animals). However, that's not a requirement.
-Overgrown - The land is really overgrown right now. I'm happy to clear it if folks have a specific vision.
-Goats - I would love to bring goats back to the property. If you have an interest in goats, I have a goat connection with a biodynamic farmer/goat expert. We would need to tighten up the fencing a bit.
