    What's special

Wilbur and Mary Ellen Borton loved thoroughbred races horses. As a young jockey, Wilbur was trained and mentored by the legendary Roscoe Goose. Roscoe Goose, often known as the Golden Goose, had an illustrious racing career that included one of the most surprising victories in Kentucky Derby history. Goose became the first Louisville native to ride a horse to Derby glory in 1913 when Donerail, facing 91-1 odds, pulled off the remarkable win. Gooses career coincided with the growing popularity and profitability of horseracing. When Goose passed on, he left his circa 1891 Italianate-style home and all of its contents to Wilbur and Mary. This home still stands in Louisville today and is commemorated with historical marker 2552. The Bortons sold the home and bought this farm to raise and train thoroughbred horses. They built a modest home with fences and barns. The Bortons have since passed on but the dream remains for the next owner. Call to schedule a look at this farm.
