    3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom 1/2 duplex for rent. The duplex is three years old. It sits on the North side of Chesterton (only a 10-15 minute drive to Valparaiso, 3 minute drive to I-94, and 6 minute drive to I-80). The kitchen, living room, eating area, powder room, and mud room are on the main level. All of the rooms on the main level, except the mud room have hand-scraped solid hardwood flooring. The mud room has a simulated wood vinyl flooring. The kitchen has stainless appliances. The upstairs includes two regular bedrooms, a hallway bathroom, a laundry room, and a large 14'x16' master bedroom. The master bedroom includes a master bathroom and separate his & hers walk-in closets. The stairs, hallway, and bedrooms are carpeted. The laundry room and bathrooms have simulated wood vinyl flooring (same as in mud room). Each unit has an attached two-car garage and unfinished basement. In total, each unit has just under 1,600 finished SF and an additional 700 SF of unfinished basement. If tenant signs a two-year lease, I am willing to rent this unit for $1,550/month. If tenant signs a three-year lease, I am willing to rent it for $1,500/month. Tenant is responsible for all utilities (including $6 per month storm/runoff water fee paid by landlord) and snow removal. Landlord will maintain the exterior landscaping (i.e. mowing the lawn). Home is built to current efficiency standards and also has blown in cellulose insulation, so heating and cooling costs are very reasonable. This is a non-smoking unit. Tenant is allowed to have one domesticated dog or cat that is no more than 30 pounds full grown. Landlord requires a one-time $250 pet-rent fee for any pet. Landlord also requires a $1,650 security deposit. The security deposit is refundable pending there are no damages beyond normal wear-and-tear at move-out. Interested applicants must pass screening process. For all applicants 18 and older, landlord pulls a credit, eviction, and national criminal report. Application fees are paid by applicant.
