    How much does freedom cost? $149k obo. Freedom from crowds, nosy neighbors, crime, urban noise, and all the other downsides to a highly populated area. This home is located just 4-5 miles off of highway 90 in Iberia Parrish but is nestled amongst fields of sugar cane, woods and bayou waterways. There is a bayou and gulf access canal on the property, small dock and yours is the only boat ramp for miles, in the over 4 years I have lived here I have only seen other boats within a couples miles of the home a total of 3 times. Its like you have it all to yourself and Cypermort point/Vermillion bay can be reached from the backyard, running time depends on boat speed obviously but it's approx 5.5-7 miles away by boat. The excellent fishing, hunting of all sorts and crabbing from your backyard are there anytime you want. Don't let the smaller 3.8 acre lot size fool you, it has the feel of a property 10 times + it's size due to it's dead end road location and lack of homes out here. Abundant wildlife of all kinds such as deer, hogs, rabbit, quail, ducks, otters, beaver, squirrel, mink, occasional bear, etc use our property as a link between two very large tracts of farmland. I have bagged a few deer and hogs on it since we have been here. Its within a short distance from 4 bayous hunt club as well. The home itself was originally a farmhouse in Lafayette (approx 100+ yrs old) and moved out here in the late 1980's. Its mostly cypress construction has withstood the test of time and all storms since then with a simple loss of screens and shingles as it's only damage. It has solar screen and storm shutters on every window. Its up on stilts but it does have a first floor under air addition and total sq footage is 1818. The first floor could easily be finished off as multiple bedrooms, a mother in-law suite, rental etc. It has 3 porches to enjoy all the peace and quiet a person could ever want, a front ,a rear screened in and a kitchen porch. Pecky cypress and other woods finish off the interior of the top floor. It has a new central ac unit which is up on a platform and also central butane heat but as mild as the winters are here we have mainly used a couple space heaters which keep it plenty warm. There is parking for 2-3 vehicles under the home as well as an attached carport onto a large shed for more vehicle/boat storage. Home is within easy commuter distance to Lafayette (30-45 minutes), Lydia (10 minutes), Jeanerette (10 minutes), New Iberia (15 minutes), Cypermort point boat ramp (25 minutes), cypress bayou casino (15 minutes). So have the best of both worlds, peace and quiet with a rural secluded location but ease to all stores, recreational destinations etc Would make a fine full time residence, as well as a great weekend getaway. Wild blackberries line the canal, and there are also satsuma, naval orange and cumquat trees on property. The HUGE backyard is great for skeet shooting as well. You can shoot day or night and never hear a complaint or bother a soul. Home has a Jeanerette zip code but is actually closer to Patoutville and Lydia. Wife and I are simply too far from family and will be moving out of state to be closer to them, its only reason for home sale as we do love it here.
