The lodge is wired for electricity as well as piped and equipped with propane lighting. There is a 7500 gallon steel water tank that sits on a knoll above the lodge. A commercial septic system was designed, installed, inspected and approved by a Professional Engineer. It can handle 12 people all year long and consists of 1200 gallon steel, coated septic tank and leachfield covered with "Infiltrators". There is a 2500 KW "Northern Light" diesel powered electric generator wired to the shop and cabins, for AC power and lights, although most of the time solar panels and a charge controller are used to charge a bank of 12 V batteries that power the water pumps and a DC to AC inverter. Lights, refrigerators, freezer and water heaters are powered by propane. The Susitna Flats Game Refuge is home to moose, black and brown bears, wolverine, red fox, and other smaller mammals. There are numerous bald eagles, owls, spruce hens, ravens, ducks and many smaller species of birds.
