ABOUT THE SPACE: The space for rent is the two-floor unit of a four-level duplex, your main floor has one of the bedrooms a full bathroom, dining room, kitchen, a large living room, and access to the back yard through the deck off the kitchen. The bottom floor is a fully finished basement with two more bedrooms, a bonus living room/office space, a laundry room, a door to the backyard, and a large half bathroom. This rental comes with a new washer and mid-aged dryer, new furnace, high ceilings on the main, laminate floors, tons of storage, a large dedicated laundry room, dishwasher, cable/wi-fi ready, a big shady backyard with a deck/trees/garden, (sometimes grass), and a non-functional fireplace in the living room. Why live here (or not, given that I don't know what you, my hypothetical tenant, likes)... If you like NE and N Portland, this place is at the center of the universe. The neighborhood is excellent, but not cookie-cutter suburban. You're within easy walking distance of Alberta, Mississippi, and Williams, you could throw a rock and hit a bus stop on MLK, there are bars restaurants, and coffee shops within a 2-minute walk, and there's a farmers market 3 blocks away in the summer, a New Seasons grocery and Natural Foods grocery within walking distance, and if you drive you can be downtown in minutes. Street parking and close to transit. Why not live here (finally, the fine print): See criteria. If you collect animals like baseball cards this might not be the best fit; a dog is okay as you have a yard, but we'd like to avoid a herd of critters. No smoking indoors. Also, yard maintenance comes with a place to the garden (read as help weed the front/back yard, outdoor sweeping, and general maintenance). I think that about covers the downsides.
