Five Mile Ranch -- For Sale
www.FiveMileRanch.com
Native Americans lived and hunted in this valley in the foothills of the Ozarks. Drawn by abundant water from Five Mile Creek and the artesian spring located on the ranch, many arrowheads have been found from our previous residents.
The rolling hills and lands were purchased by Marvin A. Singleton in 1975, for many of the same reasons of the location. A fifth generation of his family to live in Missouri, Dr.Singleton was intrigued by the history of the area, a stagecoach following the creek, stopping at the Artesian spring to water the horses on the way to the frontier town of Baxter Springs, Kansas from Monett, Missouri. The name of the ranch took the name of the creek and road that transverse the property.
While working in Joplin as an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, Dr.Singleton raised cattle and Arabian horses. He served as 4-H leader, school board member, member of various local and state organizations, and served 12 years in the Missouri Senate.
The ranch is located six miles south of Joplin, less than a mile from the Eagle Creek Golf Club at Downstream Casino Resort, (previously Loma Linda Country Club).
Improvements to the Ranch include a large dairy barn converted into stalls and hay storage. A large clear span horse arena with 18 stalls, grooming and wash areas, bathroom and office. It’s insulated ceiling and fly spray system keeps the arena comfortable year round. There are two large barns for equipment and shops with storage. There are two renovated houses on the ranch (a two story main house with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a single story 3 bedroom, 2.5 baths), garages and garage apartment in addition to two mobile homes for farm workers. There are over 2,500 walnut trees on the ranch that participate in the Federal Riparian program. Multiple dry runs and paddocks with shelters and fresh water are available throughout most of the ranch with either vinyl fencing or smooth wiring.
