Pennsylvania Germans who came up through Bucks County followed the Leni Lenape. Taking advantage of the abundant fertile land, they developed a strong farming economy. They also recognized another of the area's unique natural resources- a combination of clay soil and iron ore deposits ideal for creating pottery. The Stahl Pottery Works, founded in the mid-1800s, was a well know producer of everyday redware items decorated with typical Pa.
