In a valiant effort to safeguard and celebrate a rapidly disappearing early American art form, the post and beam barn, a home of distinction and warmth was born. Carefully disassembled, catalogued, transported and rebuilt on 3.5 private acres in Princeton, this Pennsylvania Dutch relic-turned-residence represents the pinnacle of upcycling. Using skilled artisans and time-tested materials, the labor of love was completed just 3 years ago. Massive slabs of stone create patios, steps and walls that surround the house and adjoining garage. Inside, a cupola rises 42 feet above wide-plank floors in the entry, which sets the tone for wide-open spaces to come. Three stone fireplaces maintain a cozy atmosphere, while French doors bring in extra light. Soapstone and lovely garden views surround commercial equipment in the kitchen with separate pantry storage. In addition to guest quarters and 2 upper suites, the master wing boasts a Waterworks bathroom with copper tub and an office accessible by hidden staircase.
