The Simon Brown house was built about 1849. Simon Brown came from what is now Poland and his sons became prominent planters and merchants. The house was said to have been spared from being burned by Union Troops in February, 1865. Mrs. Brown waved a Masonic flag from the upper porch. The commanding officer recognized the sign and ordered that the house be aired. Front Foyer with grand columns greet you as you enter the front door. To the right is the Formal Parler Music room with Marble fireplace imported from Italy. Decorative coal fireplace. Large pocket doors separate the formal Dining room. Rooms have heavy mouldings. To the right of the foyer is a large Library with built in book cases, fireplace which has been relined and functions. Adjoining is full bath and Primary Bedroom. Country Kichen with antique stove and working fireplace . Sunroom at rear over looking unground pool. Back porch overlooks pool and large lawn area. Upstairs are 3 Bedrooms and bath.
