Retire early and never work harder? Sound like a Paradox?
Welcome to Geronimo Farms in magnificent Paradox, Colorado. Really!
I am a 49-year-old, nearly retired computer geek who is a 4th generation Colorado native.
Geronimo Farms is the most beautiful 5 acres (with BLM on two sides and undeveloped neighbors on two sides) I can afford.
It is outfitted with a large but simple 1700 sq. Foot 2 Bed, 1 (huge) bath, sunk-in living room, fireplace and decks on 3 sides. It?s all about enjoying the outdoors during any season.
It is my plan that the current house will forever belong to renters who will farm the property and enjoy the fruits of their labor. I am not a farmer, and I am willing to learn. It?s why I ?bought the farm?. But for now I must make a living in the real world and I need people I can trust to take good care of the orchard, structures, and soil. I have lots of connections in Telluride (1.5 hours away) that will devour your fresh organic fruits and veggies.
The property lease is $1400/month, and I am willing to sign a two-year agreement for the right fit. Pets will be considered, but all damages are the responsibility of the renter.
Utilities are in addition to the lease and include electric, phone, DSL, and propane. The main house can be heated with both the fireplace and propane as well as electric.
Paradox, CO (or more appropriately Cashin Copper) is a tiny slice of heaven. It can mostly closely be described as Eden. There is a creek, 40 fruit trees, a canyon which can only be accessed through my property, and a dirt road adjacent which ends in an abandoned copper mill and ghost town.
If there is a more magnificent spot, I haven?t found it. It is 1 hour from Moab UT which is an adequate refill station with a decent movie theater, City Market, organic co-op, and close knit community. Telluride is 1.5 hours away and is a ski heaven and summer concert paradise.
Renters must pay first, last and a $750 fully refundable security deposit ($1000 with pets) in advance. A basic background check will be required.
