Bollinger's Contrivance, Circa.1785, is an amazing piece of Carroll County History preserved and improved by the current owners. Joseph Bollinger came to America in 1754 with his mother. He officially patented the farm "Joseph Bollinger Contrivance" in 1793. The "Bollinger" name is prevalent in Carroll County and the journey began here. The current owners were so respectful of the families heritage that they offered their home for a "Bollinger Family Reunion" and 125 descendants showed up from 10 different states. The property also served as the meeting house for the Black Rock Church of the Brethren. The original house was a four-bay by two bay Pennsylvania Farmhouse of which exists today and an addition was added later. The entire house was remodeled by the current owner and a large master bedroom suite was added to the first floor with great attention to detail and appreciation of the original house. The accessory buildings include a large bank barn with water and electric, large wagon shed, large corn crib/garage, spring house, smoke house, 4-car climate controlled garage/shop with water and large equipment storage building. The property consists of approximately 45 acres of which about 15 acres was recently planted in a pasture mix. A lovely stream meanders through the property that can be enjoyed while sitting on the covered screened porch and about 15 acres of mature woodland area helps to create a magical environment for all kinds of critters...a hunters dream.
