Watch the video tour!! According to Historic Deerfield, this old house is a rare gem, because this specific type of house has survived while others have not. It started as a one room house with a chimney at one end before an additional room was constructed, possibly in the 1790's. Both rooms have fireplaces. Although the earliest deed for the property dates to 1712, it was likely just for the land. A study of the timbers "correlated rather well" with the "Deerfield area master", revealing that the house was likely initially framed in 1761, 15 years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Since 1973, the full dormer was added and the second story was finished. The first floor consists of 4 rooms and a half-bath. Off of one of the back rooms is access to the workshop with the two car garage beyond it. The 2nd floor has 3 bedrooms (1 used as sitting room, no closet) a full bathroom, and a kitchen, from where one can access the spaces above the workshop and the garage.
