Gold Bar was originally occupied by the native Skykomish people to whom we honor as the original stewards of the land. Western prospectors later came in 1869 after miners found trace amounts of gold in the river gravel. Over time, Gold Bar became an offbeat getaway spot for those seeking to fish and hunt in the area. The property itself has evolved over many owners and renovations since first being constructed in 1956. The inquisitive eye might even notice the oddly placed electric panel located by the dining table. In an earlier stage of the property, that space was simply the garage and the entire wing of the cabin where the primary bedroom now resides did not exist. Somewhere on the property itself is also a buried concrete bunker from the Cold War era! In the more recent past, previous owners have attempted to use the property to live off the land with subsistence farming and raise horses, goats, and chickens. Prior to becoming the game room, the detached garage space was at various points used as an illicit marijuana farm, a boat parts ecommerce business, and a more traditional garage shed full of tools and dirt bikes.
