    What's special

This spacious, newly renovated, bespoke, second- floor-walk-up, one- bedroom apartment is located in an owner-occupied, mixed-use building in the historic Mississippi District in North Portland. The apartment includes a new Smeg refrigerator, Miele dishwasher, handmade drawers & shelves salvaged from the old cabinetry, new wood kitchen cabinets, a farmhouse style sink, honed black granite kitchen-counters, a Bertazzoni stainless-steel hood, Portland-Made, School House Electric light fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom, a newly tiled shower with glass partition, a hands-free, hand-washing sink atop the Toto, low -flow toilet, and new, double-paned-wood Marvin windows throughout the apartment. This apartment includes: four closets, multiple drawers & cabinets, a built-in- full length mirror, top-nailed- oak flooring, industrial vinyl flooring in the kitchen, vintage hex -tile on the bathroom floor and new, Japanese-made, matte-black-penny- tile on the shower floor. Blackout roller blinds are attached to each window. The apartment has its own mini-split heating and air-conditioning unit. There are only four apartments in the building and the owner and her family live across the hall in one of the units. This is a wood frame building and when you are upstairs in the hallway it feels more like you are in the hallway of a large home. That also means that noise travels and we can hear each other from our apartments when people are walking or talking in the hallways. Once you are inside the apartment noise is not an issue and normal volumes of talking and music are unnoticeable from other units. The building owner has severe chemical sensitivities to many scented products and cleansers. The owner supplies unscented laundry detergent in the shared laundry room, which is located in the basement of the building. If you are a person who uses scented laundry detergents, scented dryer sheets, perfumes, colognes, scented cleaning products and scented body products, this apartment is not going to be a good fit for you. As we are still in a Covid-19 Pandemic and most restaurants and bars are closed, cooking at home is what most people are doing. This apartment has a fantastic kitchen with lots of storage so it is a good fit for someone who enjoys cooking. The building owner is a vegan and loves to cook and to support local area farmers. This apartment is on N. Mississippi Ave. and the #4 bus route travels on N. Mississippi. Ave. The outside world can sometimes be noisy and loud but it can also be a relatively quiet scene depending on the time of day. Conversely the atmosphere in the building itself is calm and peaceful. The owner plays the cello and her teenager plays guitar and ukulele. You may hear some music in the hallway but not in the apartment itself. This building has two commercial businesses located on the ground floor. A coffee shop, The Fresh Pot, and a boutique, The Worn Path, that specializes in outdoor merchandise for all occasions. If you own a car there is free on street parking on all streets with the exception of N. Mississippi Ave. If you ride a bicycle there is a locked bike cage in the courtyard that can accommodate one bicycle. (a second bike can be stored in basement if needed) or directly on the side street adjacent to the building is a public 10 - spot on-street bicycle- parking. There are two Yellow Line Light Rail stops in walking distance from the building. Plus the #4 Tri-Met Bus travels along Mississippi Ave. There are four public parks in walking / biking distance from the building. Please Note: This apartment is newly renovated and the owner is looking for one person or two people to sign a two-year lease. This apartment is located in the Mississippi Historic District. It is a diverse neighborhood and everything is in walking distance from the building including, grocery stores, credit unions, restaurants, shops and city parks. The Lease is for 2 years and the monthly rental/lease fee is $1,800 per month. The total move-in costs are : $3,800. Move in dates are flexible: The $1,800 monthly rental fee includes all utilities (water, garbage, recycling) with the exception of the electric bill. Each apartment has its own electric meter and its own electric hot water heater. Upon move-in you will set up an account with Pacific Power for apartment #1.
