A mile down the road near downtown is a wonderful small town barber shop, wooden playground, and park, and the many small lakes surrounding the town. it is a 10 min drive to U.S. 23 for access to Flint (to the north 20 miles) or south to Ann Arbor. (1 hour drive to U. of M.) Hurley Medical center in Flint is a half hour drive and one of the best Trauma centers in Michigan. Lansing is also about an hour drive, and anywhere in the metro Detroit area is only about 1.5-2 hours. So despite the small town living in under an hour any large city feature is there. For the out doors type the lakes in the area are wonderful, and for a real get away most of the Huron National Forest is just less than 3 hours drive up I- 75.
