Couple seeks a housemate to share our large, older house in quiet North Cleveland Park. We're looking for someone who values a balance between your private space and pursuits and hanging with the homeowners. We also want a housemate who shares a love of pets and can help out with our lovely mixed-breed dog and two cats, who are all rescues with sweet dispositions and particular needs and wants. Our beautiful, calm dog sometimes wants long walks with breaks. One cat prizes treats and visits in her special room; the other likes a buffet in the kitchen. (We are finding other people to help out with the dog, so if we travel to somewhere we can't take her, you wouldn't have to handle it by yourself.) About us: The husband is retiring and charting his next chapter in life. The wife has an entrepreneurial and creative bent and does a little of everything. She is into her spirituality; he's more of a knucklehead who likes to be active outdoors and is overly prone to watching sports on TV indoors. People tend to like us both individually and as a couple, which just goes to show . The house is a light-filled 1921 center-hall colonial on a larger lot surrounded by trees, with a large back deck. We do our best to maintain and selectively upgrade the place. Our style is more homey than pristine. The house is convenient to two Red Line stations, being a few blocks from both Tenleytown and Van Ness. We are near excellent food shopping at Mom's and Whole Foods; the Wilson Pool (best indoor pool in town by far), AU and UDC. The Soapstone Trial into Rock Creek Park is 5 minutes walk away. Restaurants, gyms, a new beer garden, Politics & Prose, and other cool spots of all kinds abound. The guest bedroom is fully furnished with a queen sized bed, nightstand, desk, and dresser (see photo), ceiling fan, etc. It has an en-suite bathroom with shower/tub, which is being tastefully redone and will be finished by the end of August. Rent includes WiFi and utilities. One year minimum please. Non-smoker.
