This home first appears on the monmouth county map in 1870. It was built by a sailmaker named Mann and subsequently was occupied by J.S. Throckmorton, Captain of the Albertina steam ferry which operated between Fair Haven/Rumson and New York City. The home is referred to as Throckmorton House. It is a beautiful example of Italianate architecture.
