Our home is located in the quintessential Vermont village of Waterville, Vermont. Depending on which window we look out, we can admire a classic covered bridge, a white-steepled church, a horse pasture, a mountain view or the town hall and band gazebo. The local swimming hole, the Waterville Market and proudly cared-for town green are a few steps away. Smugglers Notch Ski Resort, the Lamoille River, the Rail Bike Trail and the Long Trail, which runs through the village; offer endless outdoor recreational adventure nearby. Our house was built in 1850 and is located in the village center which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. History buffs would be interested to know that it was once used as a stop in the Underground Railroad for runaway slaves escaping to Canada. For out-of-staters thinking of a move to Vermont, you will never experience the sense of democratic process and of community more than when you gather in Waterville’s town hall on Vermont’s annual town meeting day.
