This eclectic one bedroom apartment is part of a triplex that was originally a schoolhouse in the late 19th Century. Enjoy a comfy couch, TV with lots of killer VHS tapes (yup!), a full kitchen with service for 6, Queen bed, and sleepable sofa (even if you're over 6'). It's 5 blocks to MAX Orange Line - direct to S Waterfront/OHSU or downtown - or one block to the bus line.
Pets (dogs and cats - if you have something more unusual we can discuss) are fine, contingent on their behavior. We live next door and want to make sure everybody gets along. There will be a pet deposit.
The Space
This is a lovely high-ceiling apartment in a historic building. The building was built in the 1890s as a schoolhouse and renovated to apartments in 1929. The giant living room window looks out over the front porch and across the street at the gigantic heritage oak trees and grassy fields of Powell Park. The garden in the front yard has raspberries, peas, tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, cucumbers, squash, greens, and more - all organic and all free for the picking (when in season, naturally)!
The basement is unfinished but also quite spacious, with a washer and dryer completely available to you, and laundry detergent and dryer sheets are provided. The kitchen is stocked with a coffee maker, kettle, dishes, glassware, cutlery, bowls and pots and pans.
The Neighborhood
This is such an awesome neighborhood for everybody. If you have a dog, enjoy the grassy fields of 8-acre Powell Park across the street. Keep walking through the field and you'll come to a great playground. There are basketball courts too and pickup games happen often.
Stroll a few blocks north to SE 21st and Clinton for ice cream, nightlife, a spa/sauna, and restaurants. Head up to SE 29th and Division for excellent food carts and onward for the many attractions of Division St (there are way too many to list). Duck over to SE Gladstone St for some great restaurants and taverns. Cross the pedestrian bridge over the tracks to the Brooklyn neighborhood for more options.
The MAX Orange Line is only five blocks away - be downtown before you know what hit ya! Street parking is free and there's almost always a close space available. If you find yourself in need of supplies, there's a convenience store on our block, the truly awesome People's Co-op is 4 blocks away, and a New Seasons supermarket is 7 blocks away!
Getting Around
The brand new MAX (light rail) Orange Line is only five blocks from the apartment, and it's only 3 stops to the South Waterfront and 4-5 to downtown! The #4 bus runs up and down Powell Blvd at all hours. There are ZipCar stations about 10-12 blocks away in four different directions. There's a bike share station six blocks away. If (once) you have a bike it's only three blocks to a bike path that takes you straight to the Willamette River and downtown, without having to share a road with cars. There is lots of on-street parking, and it's extremely rare that there isn't a spot open right outside the place. But there's also a (shared) driveway for those times.
Rules
No tobacco smoking indoors - on the porch is fine. Pets must be well-behaved and each pet must be approved. No water beds or aquariums without written permission. Basically, be a respectful, reasonable, and pleasant human being.
Due on Move-In: Security Deposit (same as one month's rent) plus first month's rent. Pet deposit is $200 if applicable.
The plan is for this to be a lease term up to 6 months. If you want to extend beyond that let's talk.
