This historic 2 story log home, was built of massive chestnut logs, and laid with 1 inch yellow pine floors prior to the establishment of the State of Tennessee. Subsequently in the 1850's a two story rear addition was constructed, and in 2005 the entire stucture was restored and modernized with the cooperation of the National Park Service, to ensure the property entered the National Register for Historic Buildings. Additionally, a second building originally built in ~ 1880 and restored in 2005, has a bedroom, kitchen and full bath, stands at the rear of the property and can serve to house the mother in law or bring in additional income as a rental unit.
